Following Tuesday’s second-chance repechage races at the Shunyi rowing course, Katherine and her crew now know the complete line-up for their make-or-break quadruple sculls final on Sunday.
With Katherine’s quad and China already qualified, courtesy of their opening heat wins last Sunday, six crews raced for the remaining four places in Sunday’s final.
Germany, who had finished second to Katherine’s crew on Sunday, led all the way, and were followed into the final by USA, Australia and Ukraine, in that order. Canada and Russia, in fifth and sixth places lost out and will face each other again in the “B” final.
This result confirms that Katherine’s crew had by far the much tougher heat, with the first three repechage crews being among their scalps in the opening race.
