We are delighted to announce that Britain’s most successful female rower and Olympic Gold medalist Katherine Grainger CBE will be attending the 2013 Arla Windermere Row, in aid of GroceryAid, to offer her support and advice to the rowers during their 11.5 mile challenge across the lake.
Each year rowers from across the industry flock to Lake Windermere to take part in the Windermere Row, which this year is kindly sponsored by Arla Foods UK plc. Now in its 31st year it is one of our most popular events and not only is the row a major challenge for all those who take part it is also a social occasion for all the rowers and their families who come along and help to raise funds for GroceryAid.
Katherine’s Olympic gold at London 2012 joins her silver medals from Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008, as well as six world championship titles, making her Britain’s most successful female rower. She was appointed a CBE in 2013 for services to rowing, and her Olympic achievements make her the first female British athlete, in any sport, to gain medals in four consecutive Olympic Games.
